I’m gonna hit the range tomorrow. I’m going to Lone Star Gun Range near Lockhart and I’ll be there around 11am or so. I’ll be on the 100 yard rifle range shooting my HK clones (one each 5.56 and 7.62) trying to get the scopes zeroed in. Whichever one I’m shooting there will be a silencer on the end of it. If you’re of a mind to do so, c’mon by and say hello.

Oh man that sounds tempting. That is the best weekend trip (lone star followed by lockhart bbq, possibly followed by lone star again). All my damn guns are at my parents right now though (forgot to pack them up for the trip back from xmas...)

Sounds like fun! But I'm in Abilene this weekend and I don't own a gun. Other than that....

Bring it. I can throw an extra AR in the bag if you wanna shoot that too.

A silencer? As in honest to god suppressor or just a flash supressor? Won’t do much with supersonic rounds though.

Honest to god sound suppressor. Tomorrow I’ll be shooting through my SilencerCo Saker 762, which I picked up earlier this week. I actually BOUGHT it back last August. This is number 7 for me.

You still get the supersonic crack downrange, but the muzzle blast and all the loudness where the shooter is gets attenuated by quite a lot. Everything helps.

Very cool. How are those legal though? Because Texas?

Not just Texas.

Kinja'd!!!

There’s a $200 tax on each one and the paperwork takes a long time, but they’re legal in all but 11 states. The hearing protection benefits are quite nice. In some other countries, if you don’t use one you’re a dick.

Interesting. That’s the same tax you’d pay for a machine gun. A friend of mine in MA collects them, and has a pair of suppressed MAC-10s in addition to a bunch of other cool stuff. I’m surprised they’re not illegal in my state CT, seeing as assault-style rifles are illegal since Sandy Hook (existing owners were grandfathered).

Exact same tax, exact same everything. It’s the same paperwork.

I used to have a pair of suppressed MAC-10s but I sold one of them. I still have the 9mm and 45 ACP suppressors, and I can convert the remaining MAC-10 to either caliber.
